Toshiba is a Japanese corporation headquartered in Tokyo, Japan that makes a variety of products, including laptops. Toshiba Laptops have now releaed a new line of laptops under the Satellite brand.

The Satellite brand name is a group of laptops initially designed for the consumer. The current Satellite line features a preinstalled Windows operating system as well as Toshiba software. Toshiba's website allows upgrades and other software to be downloaded. 

The newer laptops feature wide screens with Tru-Brite glossy display technology and use either Intel or AMD chips. Upper level laptops include detailed graphics along with touch screen and ultra-thin options. Toshiba laptops  have developed a reputation for being resistant to damage and failure. In 2000, Toshiba brought out the Satellite Pro, a model featuring a DVD drive and able to perform both consumer and business functions. 

Toshiba has expanded its laptop lines. The Terca model is Toshiba's basic business laptop. The Qosmio is a Toshiba laptop who main focus is video. The Protege is Toshiba's new business laptop.

Toshiba laptops start at about $430. The business laptops start about $900. The price is dependent upon what options you add to the model you order. The Qosimo video laptop is the most expensive, starting at about $1200. At these prices, you can almost afford to upgrade your Toshiba laptop every year.

Graphics tablets have many uses particularly for graphics artists. These handy devices are also used in the education industry, for instance lecturers use them to write hand written notes for the class. There are two types of pen that come with a tablet; tethered (attached to the tablet via a wire) or un-tethered (these will require a battery and so may be heavier). The pressure level (how sensitive the tablet surface is to pressure) varies from tablet to tablet. You'll get a more natural feel when running the pen across tablet with a high pressure level. In recent years wide format Graphics Tablets have become more popular to complement widescreen monitors. They vary in size from A6 to A3.

There are a couple of different ways to connect a Graphics Tablet to a computer. The most common means to connect a Tablet is via a USB port. This is quite a convenient way to connect a tablet as it will be powered by the computer. The other way is to connect via Bluetooth however there are very few manufacturers who implement this technology into their Graphics Tablets.

A graphics tablet is the perfect solution for any budding artist. They offer a natural way of drawing and in conjunction with graphics editing programs such as Adobe Photoshop you can make many modifications to your artwork. You can have a lot more control over the graphics tablet compared with a mouse as it is pretty much like drawing on paper. The pen interacts with the tablet to create an image on the screen. It really is as simple as putting pen to paper. You can make modifications to brush size, shape, colour and opacity with a touch of the pen.

Graphics Tablets are being used more for technical drawings as a piece of paper can be placed on one and it won't interfere with its functions.

Unfortunately there is not much call for graphics tablets in 3D design as yet. Some 3D design software is especially useful for working with a Graphics Tablet however.

Handwriting recognition technology is an area where a graphics Tablet comes in very handy as you would expect. Graphics Tablets have many uses but there are some instances where a mouse just cannot be replaced such as when using word or excel. For artists there is nothing greater than a Graphics Tablet.
